Tottenham Hotspur are through to the knockout stage of the Europa League, but they were made to work for it. They were hardly at their best against Transnistrian side FC Sheriff, but squeaked out a win to clinch their place. They’ve been joined by Fiorentina and Dnipro, who will both advance from Group E, as well as Valencia, Ludogorets, Salzburg, Esbjerg and Rubin Kazan.
UEFA Europa League scores: Tottenham qualify for knockout stage, Valencia move up
Tottenham Hotspur won their fourth game in the competition, qualifying for the knockout stage in the process. Fiorentina and Dnipro have also finished off their groupmates, while Valencia have gone to the top of their group.

Valencia went behind away to St. Gallen, but surged back to claim a win, clinching their spot. They’ve also moved up into first place in their group, thanks to the draw between Swansea and Kuban Krasnodar. Championship side Wigan can still make it to the next round, but their chances were hurt today by their loss to Rubin and Zulte-Waregem’s win.
There were no major upsets on the day, but Fiorentina came close to going down. They trailed Pandurii Targu Jiu early, but came back to win away in Romania.
