The biggest event of the first half-hour was a bizarre contested drop ball after Bruce Arena touched the ball while it was still in play. Eventually, the Galaxy seemed to lose their focus a bit, eventually letting in the first goal of the night.
That forced RSL into extra time, where they would find their go-ahead goal in the first period of stoppage time. Morales set it up with yet another great set piece delivery, this time curling a free kick from the left flank to the far post. Schuler made a great run and was in position to finish from close range with a sliding shot.
