Málaga's appeal against the punishment handed down by UEFA for "significant overdue payables" has been rejected by the Court of Arbitration for Sport. In their ruling, CAS stated:

The Court of Arbitration for Sport have rejected Málaga’s appeal against their punishment for overdue payables.

“[T]he appeal filed by Málaga must be dismissed. The decision issued by the Adjudicatory Chamber and the sanction imposed on Málaga must be confirmed.”
They had already been suspended from participating in the Europa League this season, and would’ve faced another year without European competition if they were to qualify before 2017, had they not had the second season of their ban waived by a UEFA ruling back in May.
Los Boquerones are currently down in 12th place in La Liga after a poor start to the season, and now need to face paying the €300,000 fine set by UEFA’s financial control body in their initial decision last December. Poor anchovies.
