Juventus vs Udinese, Final Score 1-0: Juventus snatch last minute win

Fernando Llorente’s late goal gave Juventus the victory in a game in which Udinese deserved a point.

Udinese were minutes from a deserved draw in Turin, but unfortunately for the visitors, great teams manage to win even when they are not playing that well. And Juventus are a great team. It may have taken them 92 minutes to break the zebrette, but break them they did, thanks to Stephan Lichtsteiner, whose shot became an assist for Fernando Llorente. Still, Udinese can be satisfied with their performance, as they showed they are finally getting into form and we can expect more from Francesco Guidolin's boys in future.

Juventus started well, pressing Udinese and creating chances, mostly through Carlos Tevez. Udinese were shaky in the beginning and it looked like a Juve goal was just a matter of time, but as time passed the hosts lost their aggressiveness. Juventus were also forced into an early substitution, with Paul Pogba replacing Andrea Pirlo before fifteen minutes were up thanks to injury.

By the end of first half, the compact Udinese defense didn't have any problems dealing with the Old Lady's pressure. Udinese didn't threaten too much on the break in the first half, but did have a great chance when Antonio Di Natale almost punished an error from Leonardo Bonucci and tried to lob Gianluigi Buffon from inside the penalty box, but the legendary goalkeeper managed to save his team.

Juventus started the second half even more aggressively. Antonio Conte had obviously instructed his team to take more risks, which resulted in more opportunities in front of Zeljko Brkic's goal. But it also meant more space for Udinese's quick breaks. Buffon made a few great saves, one of which looked a certain goal, stopping Di Natale's shot from just a few yards out. On the other side, Brkic was in form as well, virtually single-handedly keeping his team in the game He saved numerous shots from Tevez, Llorente, Vidal and other Juventini.

As the game drew to a close, Conte decided to introduce Fabio Quagliarella for Paolo De Ceglie, shifting to a 3-4-3, which gives the sense that Juve lacked ideas and was trying to use sheer numbers up front to make something happen. However, it was another sub that proved key for the bianconeri. Stephan Lichtsteiner, returning after two months with injury, provided the assist for Fernando Llorente in the 92nd minute of the game, although involuntarily. His shot went just wide, but Llorente was there to head it behind Brkic into the net.

The last minute goal gave Juventus an important three points, lifting them three points above Roma, who were only able to draw against Atalanta earlier in the day.
