UEFA Champions League draw 2013: Preview and TV schedule

The knockout stage of the Champions League doesn’t get underway for another two months, but the participants will learn who they will meet in the Round of 16 on Monday.

The Champions League group stages on wrapped up on Wednesday, and the 16 teams that advanced to the knockout phase of the competition will learn their fate for the first knockout round in Monday's draw. Defending champions Bayern Munich are joined by a strong field of 15 other teams, with the group stage finishing light on big upsets.

Juventus will not appear in the knockout stage, nor will either of Portugal's big two teams, but all of England's representatives have advanced to the Round of 16, along with three out of four teams each for Spain and Germany.

Teams cannot be drawn against other teams from their country or the other knockout stage participant from their group in the Round of 16. It will be possible for teams from the same country to draw each other beginning in the quarterfinals.

The draw gets underway at 12 p.m. local time, 11 a.m. GMT, 6 a.m. ET from UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland. It can be seen live on Sky Sports 1 in the U.K. The draw is not being broadcast on live television in the United States, but FOX Sports 1 will show it later in the day on delay. It’s streaming live globally at UEFA.com.
