DFB Pokal 2013-14, Round of 16: Bavarian Derby features as Bayern Munich visit FC Augsburg

The DFB Pokal returns midweek for the Round of 16. Can you feel the excitement building?

December 3

Union Berlin vs. FC Kaiserslautern

Stadion An der Alten Försterei, Berlin - 19:00 Local / 1:00 PM ET

I like FCK to take care of business in this encounter, but one should not sleep on Union Berlin. They’re a good team this year. It’s going to be a close match.

Television: Sky Sport 1 (Germany)

Hamburg vs. FC Köln

Imtech Arena, Hamburg - 19:00 Local / 1:00 PM ET

Hamburg may be without Rafael van der Vaart in this match, but they look like they’re close to really turning the corner under Bert van Marwijk. With a trip to the quarterfinals on the line, expect Hamburg to figure this one out.

Television: Sky Sport 1 (Germany)

Schalke vs. Hoffenheim

Veltins Arena, Gelsenkirchen - 20:30 Local / 2:30 PM ET

This is a very intriguing match, and it’s outcome will totally depend on which Schalke team shows up to the match. They put together an impressive victory over the weekend against Stuttgart, and if they can transfer that effort to the match against Hoffenheim, they should still come out on top.

Television: Sky Sport 1 (Germany)

Saarbrücken vs. Borussia Dortmund

Ludwigsparkstadion, Saarbrücken - 20:30 Local / 2:30 PM ET

BVB may come into this match with a squad. “May.” It seems that they’re dropping like flies these days, so who knows how many players that they’ll roll in to Saarbrücken with on Tuesday. Regardless of what players they have with them, they’re too good and will walk away with the win.

December 4

Freiburg vs. Bayer Leverkusen

Mage Solar Stadion, Freiburg - 19:00 Local / 1:00 PM ET

Leverkusen are currently the second best team in the country behind only Bayern Munich, and Bayern are currently the best team in the world. While they haven't torn the world up in the Champions League, Leverkusen is a really good team, and they should have no issues in easily beating Freiburg.

Television: Sky Sport 1 (Germany)

Wolfsburg vs. Ingolstadt

Volkswagen Arena, Wolfsburg - 19:00 Local / 1:00 PM ET

Dieter Hecking has a really good team this season, and Wolfsburg will beat Ingolstadt to the next round. Yes, league form doesn’t always translate over to a cup competition, but I think that it does in this round.

Television: Sky Sport 1 (Germany)

Eintracht Frankfurt vs. Sandhausen

Commerzbank Arena, Frankfurt - 20:30 Local / 2:30 PM ET

It’s very possible that Frankfurt could drop this match to Sandhausen, but they’ve shown very well in the Europa League thus far, so maybe they’re a cup team this season?

Television: Sky Sport 1 (Germany)

Augsburg vs. Bayern Munich

SGL Arena, Augsburg - 20:30 Local / 2:30 PM ET

We get Augsburg and Bayern in Augsburg in the exact same round that we got it next year. That time, Bayern won the match 2-0 to advance to the quarterfinals. I think we’ll get the same thing here.

Television: Sky Sport 1 (Germany), Univision Deportes (USA), ESPN 3 (USA)
