Paulinho sidelined for at least a month with ankle injury

Tottenham Hotspur have announced that midfielder Paulinho will be out for at least a month with an ankle injury.

Tottenham Hotspur have announced that midfielder Paulinho will likely face at least a month on the sidelines after sustaining "significant" damage to his ankle ligaments in Sunday's win over Stoke City. A statement on the club's website revealed:

"Following a MRI scan, the Club can confirm that Paulinho has sustained significant ligament damage to his right ankle after a heavy challenge from Charlie Adam during Sunday's win against Stoke City. The Brazil international was forced off as a result of the injury and is expected to be sidelined for at least four weeks."

The news comes as a big blow for manager Tim Sherwood, with Paulinho having started all but two of Spurs’ league games since moving from Corinthians in the summer.

He will certainly miss Wednesday's league clash with Manchester United and the weekend's FA Cup tie with North London rivals Arsenal, and could also be out of their tough game at home to Manchester City at the end of January.
