Francesco Lodi heads home to Catania

Francesco Lodi has returned to Catania after a short stint in Genoa.

Francesco Lodi only moved to Genoa in the summer, though the 29-year-old midfielder has announced that he is returning to Catania after a short stint at the grifone. The Neapolitan playmaker tweeted his thanks to Genoa, though stated "it was time to go home":

The veteran excelled at the elefanti before his departure for Genoa a few months ago, making his name as one of Serie A’s greatest dead ball specialists and deep-lying playmakers. The Sicilian club have sorely missed him since, and are currently rooted to the foot of the table.

With Lodi now returning to the heart of their midfield they’ll certainly feel more confident of making a bid for survival, though given that they’re already cut four points adrift of safety, it’s certainly not going to be easy.
