When a penalty shootout comes down to the 10th round, no one's expecting much from the penalty takers. This was especially true in the case of Sporting Kansas City defender Aurelien Collin, who stepped up to the spot in the MLS Cup final with a chance to win the cup for his team. The clattering central defender has never been known as a technician, but he scored this absolute beauty to put Real Salt Lake under pressure.

If Collin placed a shot to either post or hit a powerful drive down the middle, it would have been a great effort and just about the most anyone could have wanted from him. Instead, he scored by far the best penalty of the entire 20-try shootout.
Needing to score to keep his team in the game, Lovel Palmer stepped up and did what most probably expected Collin to do: Hit a powerful shot down the middle. If he hit his shot an inch lower, it would have bounced off the underside of the crossbar and over the line. Instead, this happened.
The Cauldron erupted as Sporting KC lifted their first MLS Cup since 2000. Collin -- who also scored the equalizer to force extra time, was fittingly named MVP.
