Fulham vs. Manchester United: Team News & Preview

Clive Mason

The last time these sides played was pretty depressing. Fulham were so poor and conceded so early that Manchester United basically had ninety minutes of doing whatever-the-heck-they-liked as they knocked the Cottagers out of the FA Cup at Old Trafford. This time, it might be different. At least, we hope so, because otherwise it'll be an unwatchable embarrassment again.

There'll be no second reunion with old friends for Dimitar Berbatov, who picked up an injury during Fulham's 3-1 win against West Ham United earlier in the week. In happier news for the neutral, who prefers football be played at the highest level possible, Steve Sidwell is also out injured. Hurray!

Anyway, although Fulham have sometimes been a difficult nut for United to crack at Craven Cottage, their middling form under Martin Jol, the injuries and the absolute pasting they received a week ago leads me to suspect that the league leaders will be padding their cushion over Manchester City on Saturday.

It was previously reported that Spieth, Thomas and Fowler all went in on Leeds United. That does not appear to be entirely the case.
