Eric Abidal cleared by doctors to resume career
In the wake of Barcelona’s bad day in Milan, they’ve gotten some good news as doctors have given defender Eric Abidal clearance to start playing competitive soccer again after missing nearly a year after undergoing a liver transplant.

Abidal is in the final stages of recovery from a liver transplant operations he underwent in April of 2012. He’ll now be eligible to play for the Blaugrana but there’s no timetable for his return. It’ll be up to the coaching staff and Abidal himself to determine when and how much he plays. He’s been training with the team for a awhile but he’ll still need to get himself back into match fitness.
Adibal underwent a liver transplant on April 10th of last season and was inactive for several months before beginning his recovery in the fall. He rejoined Barcelona and began training with the first team on December 20th. His recovery has gone extremely well by all accounts and only had to spend a couple days in the hospital at the beginning of the month to monitor his post-operation progress after active training.
Barcelona have informed the league that Abidal is available and he’s cleared to return to action.
