Mallorca's hopes of escaping the drop zone are not looking good while Valencia roared back from a 2 goal deficit to take a point off Real Zaragoza. For Zaragoza it's their ninth straight game without a win as they remain dangerously close to the drop zone. Here's a recap of both games.

Mallorca 1-3 Getafe

Mallorca are in serious trouble after suffering yet another defeat at the hands of Getafe. The home side actually took the lead in the first half but were undone by a controversial penalty that turned the game on its head for Getafe.

Giovani Dos Santos put Mallorca ahead in the 34th minute making a run from the right side touchline before cutting inside past a defender. Dos Santos then beat Moya giving Mallorca and early lead.

Things were looking good for Mallorca until the 70th minute when referee Fernando Teixeira Vitienes incorrectly decide that Mallorca’s Nunes used his arm to black a Getafe cross. Replays showed he used his chest but the penalty was given and Diego Castro scored to make it 1-1.

Getafe added two more goals in the final minutes thanks to Adrián Colunga’s unmarked header in the 82nd minute and a lovely volley strike four minutes later.

Real Zaragoza 2-1 Valenica

Zaragoza jumped in front in the 5th minute after Helder Postiga was taken down in the box by Victor Ruiz. Apoño scored on the penalty kick, beating Diego Alves to the lower right corner. Zaragoza extended their lead to 2-0 in the 32nd minute when Helder Postiga headed in a cross from Apoño set piece. Valencia were able to pull a goal back before halftime when Jonas finished off a pass from Roberto Soldado at close range.

Valenica continued to pour on the pressure and finally found the equalizer in the 69th minute. After a winning a set piece just outside the Zaragoza box, Daniel Parejo sent a free kick that was headed down towards the near post by Victor Ruiz. Jonas was waiting and volleyed the ball into a narrow space between Leon Franco and the near post.

Franco was sent off less than ten minutes later after he came way all the way out of his box and was beaten by Roberto Soldado. Rather than allow the striker to walk in for an easy goal, Franco swatted the ball away with his hand and was shown a straight red.

Zaragoza appeared to find the match winner in stoppage time but Postiga was denied his second of the match after the referee disallowed the goal for an apparent foul in the box.
