Levante vs. Osasuna: Final score 0-2, Los Rojillos earn an important victory

Just when it looked like a scoreless draw was on the books, Osasuna’s Masoud Shojaei scored a highlight-reel worthy goal to give his side an important three points.

Levante and Osasuna tried to put on a good show in some tough, windy conditions at the Estadi Ciutat de València and thanks to Masoud Shojaei's stunning late winner, they did just that.

Levante will be annoyed at giving away points but they remain safe in the mid-table and can remain focused on continuing their Europa League. Osasuna will gladly take the three points that allows them to open up a five point cushion between themselves and the drop zone.

No goals in the first 45 minutes both sides were active and had their chances. Levante came especially close in the 8th minute when Vicente Iborra found Obafemi Martins at the far post with a cross. It looked like a certain goal but Andrés Fernández made a fantastic recovery and stopped the close range shot.

In the 58th minute two Osasuna defender nearly linked up to put their side in the lead. Osasuna make a lightning quick counter attack down the left side and the ball ended up on Damia’s foot just outside the Levante box. His low cross got through the defense and found Javi Arribas in stride. Arribas hammered his shot off the crossbar and the ball bounced out between the legs of Levante goalkeeper Keylor Navas who was in a sitting position after making a discombobulated attempt to save Arribas initial shot. Fortunately for Levante, the ball stayed in front of Navas and no one was lurking for a rebound.

Just when a scoreless draw seemed the be the likely result, some individual magic from Masoud Shojaei in the 88th minute broke the deadlock. Shojaei started on the left wing and danced around two Levante defenders before launching a superbly struck curling ball that tucked itself nicely in the upper right corner, over the diving hand of Navas.

Kike Sola added a second goal deep into stoppage time to put the match away.
