Spain are, once again, playing without a real striker. They're also not playing with two obvious pivot midfielders or three obvious central midfielders, so Cesc Fabregas isn't a lock to play as the "false nine". He looks more likely to play in the midfield, based on this selection. Juan Mata, Pedro or Santi Cazorla look like they're getting a run in the role. Carles Puyol returns to the team, alongside Sergio Ramos, and Victor Valdes starts in goal in the absence of Iker Casillas.
Spain vs. Uruguay: Lineups
Uruguay's team shape isn't entirely obvious either, but it looks like a 4-4-2. Don't be shocked if they switch to a back three, with Nicolas Lodeiro moving farther forward and Christian Rodriguez operating as a left wingback.
Spain starting lineup (4-3-3): Victor Valdes; Jordi Alba, Carles Puyol, Sergio Ramos, Cesar Azpilicueta; Sergio Busquets, Cesc Fabregas, Andres Iniesta; Pedro, Juan Mata, Santi Cazorla
Uruguay starting lineup (4-4-2): Fernando Muslera; Martin Caceres, Diego Lugano, Diego Godin, Maxi Pereira; Nicolas Lodeiro, Alvaro Gonzalez, Diego Perez, Christian Rodriguez, Edinson Cavani, Luis Suarez
