Manchester United vs. Reading: Match preview and TV Schedule

Manchester United could take another giant leap closer to the title on Saturday as they host Reading at Old Trafford after their rivals have a considerably trickier game.

Alex Livesey

Manchester United have a straightforward task in keeping their march to the Premier League title on track when they host managerless Reading at Old Trafford in Saturday's late game.

The Royals have just sacked boss Brian McDermott, and have yet to appoint his replacement, so the effect on squad morale remains to be seen, but they will face a difficult task regardless in facing the Red Devils at home. United have failed to win in both of their last two games - their 2-1 defeat to Real Madrid and their 2-2 draw against Chelsea, both at Old Trafford.

Phil Jones and Paul Scholes continue to be unavailable for United, while Nani may also be absent, so Ashley Young and Shinji Kagawa will be in the frame to start. Both could even begin the game, with Ashley Young on the right in the context of Antonio Valencia's continued poor form, although there is competition for most of the forward places.

Reading will have little hope of a victory, but given United's recent wobbles in other competitions, could have a faint hope of snatching something if their opponents turn in another poor display. For United, they may enjoy a comfortable lead, but they cannot afford to let Manchester City back into the title race. The Citizens have a far harder task away at Everton, so the chance to take another big step towards the title will be all the motivation they need.
