League Cup holders Swansea City earned a vital three points on Saturday as they further cemented their position in the top half of the table with a narrow 1-0 win against Newcastle United. They did leave it late, however, and the win wasn't exactly pretty -- but Michael Laudrup won't care.
Swansea City vs. Newcastle: Final score 1-0, late Luke Moore strike gives Swans points

The hosts would have expected a wider margin of victory based on how the game began. Newcastle were a mess, and Swansea nearly scored three times in the opening few minutes, with Michu heading over, Ashley Williams seeing a weak shot cleared off the line by Steven Taylor and Mathieu Debuchy gettng away with a handball in the box.
But the Magpies got into the match, and probably had the better of the second half. Papiss Cisse, Yoann Gouffran and Moussa Sissoko all came close to opening the scoring, and it looked like the match was going their way. That is, until a defensive meltdown allowed Luke Moore to pounce on a loose ball in the 85th minute, and his scuffed effort somehow dribbled past Robert Elliot to give Swansea a big win.
