The two teams both qualified for the 2010 edition of the tournament, but sit in fifth and sixth respectably, on 12 points. Uruguay is in the playoff spot, while Chile would be out of contention for a World Cup berth if the table held.

Uruguay host a desperate Paraguay team in the second game of the day, with the visitors needing to start piling up points fast to remain relevant.
