Netherlands vs. Romania: Final score 4-0, Van Persie helps keep the Dutch perfect in qualfiying
The Netherlands continued their unbeaten qualifying run and took another step towards Brazil with a 4-0 defeat of Romania.

The Dutch started quickly putting Romania under immediate pressure in the 10th minute. Jeremain Lens made an excellent turn and raced down the right wing before finding Van Persie completely unmarked in the center of the Romania area. Van Persie’s acrobatic effort skied over the bar.
Two minutes later the Dutch were on target after a giveaway in the midfield allowed Lens to go on the attack again. Lens centered the ball just on the edge of the Romania area where it was settled by Van Persie and laid off for a charging Rafael van der Vaart who blasted a low shot past Costel Pantilimon to put the Dutch ahead 1-0.
Robin Van Persie had another brilliant chance in the 36th minute after a horrible defensive giveaway by Romania right in the center of their box. Van Persie jumped on the loose ball but sent his shot straight at Pantilimon.
Five minutes into the second half the Netherlands began to pull away. Van Persie chased down a ball on the left wing and left it for Arjen Robben who cleverly alluded a Romanian defender and sent a short ball back into the box towards Van Persie. The striker somehow managed to turn his body around and redirect the ball off the far post and into the net with a tremendous header.
in the 64th minute the Dutch expanded their lead again earning a penalty after Florin Gardos made a really poor tackle, sweeping Lens’ legs out from under him. Van Persie took the PK and buried the attempt putting the Netherlands ahead 3-0.
The Dutch added a fourth just as the clock hit 90 minutes. A long throw from the left side was headed down by Siem De Jong to Adam Maher at the top of the box. His shot was saved by Pantilimon but the rebound was tapped in by Lens as the Dutch scored four for the second time against Romania in the group stages.
