Mexico vs. USA, 2014 World Cup Qualifying: Lineups

Both coaches were forced to make slight adjustments due to injuries and/or suspensions and both decided to take risk with starters in the defense.

Update: Final Score - Mexico 0-0 USA: Match report.

With Jermaine Jones out injured, Maurice Edu steps into the midfield for Jurgen Klinsmann. Clarence Goodson is also out, replaced by Matt Besler. It's a huge moment for the Sporting Kansas City defender who will likely be under a ton of pressure in his first start in Azteca.

Francisco Rodriguez is suspended for yellow card accumulation so 20-year old Diego Reyes has taken his place in the central defense. It’s a bit of a surprise that Chepo has chosen the youngster over the more experienced Hugo Ayala so be sure to watch him.

Mexico starting lineup (4-2-3-1): Guillermo Ochoa; Severo Meza, Diego Reyes, Héctor Moreno, Jorge Torres Nilo; Jesús Zavala, Carlos Salcido; Javier Aquino, Giovani dos Santos, Andrés Guardado; Javier Hernández.

United States starting lineup (4-2-3-1): Brad Guzan; Geoff Cameron, Omar Gonzalez, Matt Besler, DeMarcus Beasley; Maurice Edu, Michael Bradley; Graham Zusi, Clint Dempsey, Herculez Gomez; Jozy Altidore.
