Bayern Munich benched some of their stars in preparation for their Champions League match, which didn’t help Hamburg SV at all.

Getty ImagesBorussia Dortmund will travel to Spain on Wednesday for their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal match against Malaga. The match will be BVB’s first quarterfinal appearance in the Champions League since the 1996-97 season when they made a run to the semifinals.
While they will already be making the trip without starting centerback Mats Hummels who is still recovering from an ankle injury, BVB received good word on Sunday that several players that picked up knocks against Stuttgart on Saturday will be available for selection. Marco Reus (ribs), Sven Bender (foot), Lukasz Piszczek (hip), and Kevin Großkreutz (foot) are all expected to be in the squad and likely start on Wednesday.

I get the feeling that Bayern Munich might consider turning the difficult sliders up a little bit, because this is all a little bit silly. They’re demolishing all who come before them without even looking like they’re trying. Poor Rene Adler. Poor HSV defence. Poor Bundesliga. Poor Juventus, one has to presume.

Bayern Munich are well out front and might as well be given the title now, but behind them Dortmund, Bayer and Schalke all won to keep the Champions League battle exactly as we had it to start the day.
Hannover have been awful away from home this season, but Konstantin Rausch gave them one happy away day on Saturday, notching a brace. Augsburg are now five points from safety and relegation is looking more and more likely.
