After an exciting first leg in the Ukraine that ended in a 2-2 draw, it’s almost time for the second leg. Hopefully this match will live up to excitement bar set by the first meeting between these two teams.
Borussia Dortmund vs. Shakhtar Donetsk, 2013 UEFA Champions League: Lineups
Both coaches have been forced to make a change in their defense due to injury, but otherwise it’s all first choice players as Dortmund and Shakhtar battle for a spot in the quarterfinals.
Jürgen Klopp had hoped to get Mats Hummels back for this match but the German international defender still isn’t ready to go so Felipe Santana takes his place on the back line. İlkay Gündoğan, who missed the first leg with an injury, returns to his place in the midfield and that’s a good thing for Dortmund.
Mircea Lucescu has put out the same lineup from the first line with only one injured induced change. Central defender Dmytro Chygrynskiy couldn’t overcome an ankle problem and did not travel to Germany. Oleksander Kucher will take his place.
Borussia Dortmund starting lineup (4-2-3-1): Roman Weidenfeller; Lukasz Piszczek, Neven Subtoic, Felipe Santana, Marcel Schmelzer; Sven Bender, İlkay Gündoğan; Jakub Blaszczykowski, Mario Götze, Marco Reus; Robert Lewandowski
