Barcelona goalkeeper Víctor Valdés has paid a heavy price for his aggressive confrontation of referee Miguel Angel Perez Lasa after the final whistle on Saturday's Clasico loss.

Barcelona could be without their starting goalkeeper for the next four league matches after he was handed a four match ban for his post-Clasico red card. Barcelona are appealing the decision.

The Spanish Federation's Comitè de Competición reviewed the red card Valdés was shown by Lasa and handed him a four-match ban. Valdés will mess Barca's next three matches at the Camp Nou against Deportivo, Rayo Vallecano and Mallorca along with an away trip against Celta Vigo.
Valdés will be eligible to play in Barca’s Champions League second leg match against AC Milan.
The goalkeeper was enraged after Lasa refused to award a penalty for what Barcelona players perceived as a foul against Adriano late in the game against Real Madrid. Valdés charged up to the referee after the final whistle, getting right in Lasa’s face and yelling at him. Lasa quickly showed him a yellow card which did nothing to slow down Valdés. A red card followed shortly thereafter.
Teammates and staff had to restrain Valdés and pull him away from the referee.
Gerard Pique demanded an apology from Lasa during a post-match interview with the Spanish paper AS. The defender said there was obvious contact on Adriano and that the penalty was clear. Pique continued saying he hoped that Lasa apologized to Barca the next time he saw them.
Barcelona will be appealing the ban on Valdés’ behalf.
