When the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 was drawn, most assumed that the tie between Juventus and Celtic would be generally dull, with the Italian champions coming out on top. Their tie was intriguing for less than 10 minutes, and ceased to be interesting when Juventus scored early on at Celtic Park.

Juventus scored twice more in Scotland and won 2-0 at their home ground on Wednesday, winning the tie 5-0 on aggregate. They have accomplished the unthinkable, managing to play mind-numbingly boring football while simultaneously scoring five goals in 180 minutes. Achievement unlocked!
The minuscule and faint, but certainly existent hopes that Celtic supporters had that their team could come back were dashed in the 24th minute of Wednesday's match, when Alessandro Matri tapped in a simple finish. Fraser Forster gifted it to him, spilling a shot by Fabio Quagliarella that he should have been able to smother, or push away at the very least. Quagliarella netted a goal of his own in the 65th minute, tapping in a square ball by Arturo Vidal.
While Juventus aren’t the taste of football supporters who enjoy lightning fast counters or fluid passing movements, they’re not inherently dull. They’re actually quite fun to watch when they’re playing an opponent on a similar level. Sadly, Celtic aren’t that. The bianconeri’s quarterfinal tie should be infinitely more entertaining, unless they draw Galatasaray or Schalke.
