Tottenham Hotspur vs. Inter Milan: Preview and TV schedule

Tottenham are in excellent form while Inter Milan are playing terribly, but that doesn’t tell the whole story in what should still be a relatively even clash between two good sides.

Paul Gilham

Tottenham will feel confident about facing an Inter Milan side struggling for fitness and form at White Hart Lane, but a few problems for the home side and a few silver linings for the visitors will mean it should still be a relatively even game.

Inter come into the match off the back of a 3-2 comeback against Catania, with Rodrigo Palacio, who is likely to start, bagging a brace. Meanwhile, Tottenham are struggling with a few injuries which could leave them light up front (although nothing on the scale of the injury crisis which has decimated Inter.)

The last time these two teams met, it was a famous encounter in the Champions League where Spurs went out but Gareth Bale put in a stunning performance over the two legs, scoring a hat-trick at the San Siro. Bale is hugely in-form for Tottenham, although could be in need of a rest after playing so many games this season. Despite Spurs enjoying a good lead in the battle for Champions League qualification, they will need to be careful and cannot afford further slip-ups, so a rotated squad could be featured.

Nonetheless, considering Spurs have not lost in their last twelve matches, whereas Inter have won just three of their last twelve, the home side will be favourites to open up a commanding lead for the second leg.
