Everton vs. Wigan, 2013 FA Cup: Preview and TV schedule

Everton and Wigan will both have the chance to progress to Wembley, but could rest players as the league enters the crunch stage.

Chris Brunskill

Everton and Wigan will compete to make an FA Cup Semi-Final which represents a great opportunity for both clubs, but both will also be wanting to keep one eye on the league.

With Everton still an outside bet for fourth place if they can correct their stuttering form, and Wigan embroiled in a relegation battle, even the later stages of the cup could be an unwelcome distraction from both sides, so a rotated squad could be selected by either manager.

Wigan's injury crisis has largely subsided, although they could give run-outs to fringe players regardless - Callum McManaman has excelled in earlier rounds, and Angelo Henriquez, on loan from Manchester United, has not been used much so far.

The very real chance of making a final should be enough to ensure both sides have a proper go at the game, and with little to lose, we should see an entertaining clash

Everton injuries and suspensions

Out: John Heitinga (ankle). In doubt: Tim Howard (back).

Wigan Athletic injuries and suspensions

Out: Ben Watson (broken leg), Albert Crusat (knee).

Everton will miss John Heitinga but will give a late fitness test to determine if Tim Howard is ready to return to first-team duties. The American has been absent of late with a back injury but could return in time to face the Latics.

Wigan's injury crisis is subsiding, with Ivan Ramis and Ryo Miyaichi returning, although Roberto Martinez could still rest players, and give time to some of his squad members such as the impressive Callum McManaman.
