There's nothing quite like a good FA Cup upset. Unfortunately, we got the exact opposite of that at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, where poor Barnsley were ground into sad dust by Manchester City and Carlos Tevez. It took all of 11 minutes for the 2011 winners to go 1-0 up, with David Silva's flick being pushed onto the post by Luke Steele before Tevez converted the rebound.
Manchester City vs. Barnsley, 2013 FA Cup: Final score 5-0; Tykes routed in Manchester
No upset here: Carlos Tevez got a hattrick as Manchester City advanced to the FA cup semifinal with a 5-0 win against Barnsley.

And things rapidly got worse for the visitors. Aleksandar Kolarov slotted home a brilliant cross from Tevez in the 27th minute and the Argentinian got another shortly thereafter. He had to wait until the second half for his hattrick, earned via a neat finish into the bottom corner, before David Silva finished the rout off by walking the fifth into the goal. In between goals four and five, Barnsley had a decent spell, forcing Costel Pantillimon into a series of saves, but by then it was very, very clear who was advancing to the semifinals at Wembley.
Borrrring.
