Rubin Kazan hasn't had a real chance in their Europa League tie against Chelsea since Fernando Torres scored his team's third goal at Stamford Bridge last week. Four minutes into the return leg in Moscow, Torres scored again, matching Rubin's away goal. There was never going to be a comeback, but the teams combined for four more goals anyway in Rubin's 3-2 win that sent Chelsea through on aggregate, 5-4.

Sergey Ryzhikov, who is a bit nuts, gifted Torres the chance to score the opening goal. On a long ball by Frank Lampard, Ryzhikov came off his line way too early, and Torres placed an excellent chipped finish over his head. Literally nothing else of consequence occurred in the rest of the first half.
A very sleepy first half gave way to a second half that produced lots of goals, but no real excitement. Ivan Marcano made extra time possible in the 51st minute, heading in a cross from Pablo Orbaiz on a short corner, but Rubin's joy was short-lived. Victor Moses scored four minutes later, ending the tie.
With everything very much wrapped up, Rubin scored twice to make the aggregate score look respectable. They needed four. Gokdeniz Karadeniz scored his team’s second on the night and Natcho converted a penalty in the 75th minute, but it led to nothing resembling a comeback.
