Real Sociedad did exactly what they needed to do that in defeating Rayo Vallecano 2-0 and extending their unbeaten run to 13 matches. The win extends their advantage in fourth place back to four points over Malaga and Valencia and moves them ever closer to a Champions League place next season.
Rayo Vallecano vs. Real Sociedad: Final score 0-2, Real secures their hold on fourth place
Real keep on getting positive results and expanded their advantage in fourth place back to four points thanks to a brace from Imanol Agirretxe.

Imanol Agirretxe did all the damage for Real, scoring twice in the opening 15 minutes as the visitors shut down Vallecano who fall further behind the race for a Europa League place.
Real did their damage down the left wing, first in the 6th minute when Antoine Griezmann brought down a long ball and allowed his teammates to catch up with the play. Griezmann delivered the ball to Alberto De La Bella who promptly laid it off for Agirretxe who beat Rubén from six-yards out.
Agirretxe doubled the advantage in the 15th minute, taking a pass from the left by Xabi Prieto and completing another short range finish.
Rayo’s head coach Paco Jemez had seen enough and my a double change on the right side of his formation. While it shut down Real’s bombardment down the left wing, it didn’t help Rayo get back in the game.
It wasn’t for lack of chances as Ray improved over the rest of the first half and into the second, but they wasted their chances and never really put Real under serious threat.
Real are away to Osasuna next week before a massive home match against Valencia in late April.
