DFB Pokal Semifinals, Preview: Bayern host Wolfsburg, Stuttgart face Freiburg
The DFB Pokal Semifinals are this week. Bayern Munich look to continue their quest for the treble when they host Wolfsburg. In the other game, Freiburg look to continue their magical season with a trip to Stuttgart.

Tuesday, April 16
Bayern Munich vs Wolfsburg
2:30 PM ET / 20:30 CET - Allianz Arena, Munich, Germany
The Champions-elect will look to advance to the DFB Pokal Final for the second year in a row when they host Wolfsburg. Die Wölfe have struggled in league play this season, but Bayern Munich can not take them likely.
Bayern beat Borussia Dortmund in the last round to advance to the semifinals and will be looking to move onto the Final a week before they begin their Champions League semifinal tie against Barcelona. Wolfsburg impressed in the quarterfinals with a win over Bayer Leverkusen, and they seemed to have Die Werkself’s number this season winning twice and drawing once (They played twice in the league and once in the cup.).
Barring a crazy match, the only logical result to go with is Bayern winning. They’ve beaten Wolfsburg by a combined score of 5-0 in league play this season. The Bavarians have been in such good form lately, they could put five goals past Wolfsburg in this one match. If Dieter Hecking has plans to advance to the final, there is one thing he can do: Pray.
Prediction: Bayern Munich 3 - 0 Wolfsburg
Wednesday, April 17
Stuttgart vs Freiburg
2:30 PM ET / 20:30 CET - Mercedes Benz Arena, Stuttgart, Germany
Christian Streich will look to continue Freiburg’s magical season by leading the club to the final of the DFB Pokal with a win over Stuttgart on Wednesday. The cup match is the first of two between the club at the Mercedes Benz Arena within a five day stretch. They’ll meet on Sunday in a league match.
Both clubs are still fighting for position in the league, so both matches are important. While Stuttgart were supposed to be fighting for a place in the Champions League, it’s actually Freiburg that are on that mission.
Max Kruse and Daniel Caligiuri have lead this Freiburg side for a majority of the season, and the pair of midfielders can really make a splash with a win over Stuttgart. The Swabians will need a few goals out of Vedad Ibisevic, and a stellar performance from their defense.
Prediction: Stuttgart 1 - 2 Freiburg
