Mallorca vs. Rayo Vallecano: FInal score 1-1, Mallorca move closer to safety
Mallorca moved even with Granada on points but remain in the drop zone thanks to goal differential. Rayo’s slim hopes of getting back into the European fight were not helped by the result.

Both the goals came in the game’s opening 15 minutes with Rayo striking first in the 7th minute thank to Piti. Mallorca responded well, equalizing seven minutes later when Alejandro Alfaro beat Rubén. Despite being the better looking side the rest of the match, Mallorca couldn’t fine the winner and were saved from a far worse result as Rayo hit the woodwork twice.
Both goals came in the first 13 minutes with Piti putting Rayo ahead in the seventh minute only for Alejandro Alfaro to level six minutes later.
Rayo remains five points behind a potential Europa League spot with only six games left to play. Mallorca face fellow relegation battlers Real Zaragoza next week.
