Southampton and Swansea City played something that looked sort of like football only without the tricky business of scoring goals at the Liberty Stadium, battling it out to a 0-0 draw that was never quite as boring as it should have been.

The two sides exchanged spells of heavy pressure in the first half, with the hosts dominating in the early stages before Southampton managed to get a foothold, going into the break well on top. It was Michel Vorm who had the most work, saving smartly from Jay Rodriguez's low stop before tipping Ricky Lambert's free kick over the crossbar when it seemed destined for a place in the top corner.
Vorm’s guard was in fact breached in the 42nd minute. Rodriguez did mean things to Chico Flores on the touchline before sending in a cross which the goalkeeper first claimed then dropped on Adam Lallana’s foot, leaving the midfielder to celebrate his good fortune by slotting the ball in. Lallana’s joy was, however, short lived -- Mark Halsey ruled out the goal for an imaginary foul on Vorm in the buildup.
Ace striker Michu had a chance to break the deadlock in Swansea's favour just after halftime, and Nathan Dyer came even closer after an unlucky bounce took Artur Boruc out of the picture and set up the winger for a shot at the edge of the box. Fortunately for the visitors, Maya Yoshida was on hand to clear off the line. Boruc was then forced into a save with 12 minutes to play after Jonathan de Guzman got behind the Southampton line.
Ultimately, neither side deserved a goal, and they weren’t really too fussed about it. 0-0 it was.
