    Sporting has been one of the league’s better teams for more than two years now, but for all of their promise and all of the points they rack up throughout each summer, they have yet to take the step into MLS’s elite.

    Despite being undefeated in five straight and sporting the fifth-longest shutout streak in MLS history, Kansas City could keep up with LA. That Sporting played on Wednesday night, clear across the country in New York didn’t help, but those are the obstacles the Galaxy have dealt with in the past.

    Another heartbreaker for TFC

    Toronto FC played the best soccer that they’ve played in a couple of years on Saturday afternoon, and might have earned a 1-0 win (or better) without the assistance of referee Drew Fischer. Instead, they appeared to be the beneficiaries of a bad call for a half-hour, then gave up an equalizer to end the game in all too familiar heartbreaking fashion. The Dynamo might see their 1-1 draw as justice after Taylor’s unjust ejection, but TFC fans will probably see it as two points stolen away from their team.
