Bayern Munich vs. Barcelona: Thomas Müller heads Bayern into the lead

Update: Bayern Munich 4-0 Barcelona, final score - Match report.

Bayern Munich are in total control on the pitch and on the scoreboard thanks to Thomas Müller's header at the post in the 25th minute to put the Germans ahead.

Bayern made a shout for a penalty in the 16th minute after Philipp Lahm's drive from 20-yards out was blocked, unintentionally, by Gerard Pique's arm. The play certainly didn't look like an deliberate move by the defender but you certainly could have understood if the referee awarded a penalty. Fortunately for Barca, it was just a corner that they were able to deal with.

Marc Bartra showed some nerves in the 22nd minute making a bad pass and a giveaway that nearly allowed Bayern to break. Jordi Alba made a strong recovery to force a corner from what could have been a far worse situation. Again Barca were up to the task on the corner as Javi Martinez was whistled for a foul.

All the pressure paid off in the 25th minute when Bayern exploited their height advantage over Barcelona to near perfection. Arjen Robben's cross from the right was head back across the box by Dante where Thomas Müller escaped his marker and headed the ball down and over the line at the post to put the home side deservedly ahead 1-0.
