Barcelona vs. Bayern Munich: Lineups
In a shocking move Lionel Messi is on the bench for Barcelona and Cesc Fàbregas will take over in the center of the attack for Barcelona.
Lionel Messi is on the bench. I repeat, Lionel Messi is on the bench. Unless the striker re-aggravated his hamstring injury in Barcelona's match on Saturday, this is one heck of a bold move by Tito Vilanova. Cesc Fábregas will take over in the center of the Barca attack with David Villa and Pedro in support around him. Adriano fills in at left back with Jordi Alba suspended.
Jupp Heynckes has made two changes from the lineup that ran roughshod in the first leg. Daniel Van Buyten replaces Dante on the back line while up front, Mario Mandžukić returns from suspension and replaces Mario Gomez.
Barcelona starting lineup (4-3-3): Victor Valdés; Adriano, Gerard Piqué, Marc Bartra, Dani Alves; Alex Song, Andres Iniesta, Xavi Hernandez; David Villa, Cesc Fábregas, Pedro Rodriguez.
Bayern Munich starting lineup (4-2-3-1): Manuel Neuer; David Alaba, Daniel Van Buyten, Jerome Boateng, Philipp Lahm; Bastian Schweinsteiger, Javi Martinez; Franck Ribéry, Thomas Müller, Arjen Robben; Mario Mandžukić.
