Patrick Herrmann has signed a contract extension with Borussia Mönchengladbach through 2016.

Herrmann, 22, has six goals and four assists to his name so far this season. After spending all of last season and the start of this season out wide, Herrmann has been moved further up the field by manager Lucien Favre, and he started to take over the forward role when Luuk De Jong went out injured. However, Herrmann has struggled recently and hasn’t scored in his last twelve matches.
“I’ve been at Borussia for nearly five years now and I really feel at home. I’ve learned a lot during this time and have the opportunity to continue my development here. I’ve already achieved a lot with the team and I’d like to carry that on.”
Herrmann received his first call-up to the German senior side in March for two World Cup Qualifiers against Kazakhstan, but he was an unused substitute in both matches. He’ll struggle to get called into future camps when the squad is healthy, but if he keeps improving, he could find himself pushing for a spot.
