What do you get when the home side desperately needs a win to get out of relegation trouble while the visitors don’t care? A 4-0 Norwich win, of course.
The hosts kept pressing for more, and very nearly went 2-0 up before the interval when Hoolahan’s long-ranger was tipped over by Foster. Then Howard Webb turned down a perfectly legitimate penalty shout when the ball struck Jonas Olsson in the arm. Those close calls were simply a matter of postponing the inevitable, however, and Foster cancelled out his save with an incredible mistake just after the hour mark. A long ball went forward, and the Baggies keeper made the remarkable decision to hop over the ball rather than clear it, allowing Grant Holt to run onto possession and walk into an empty net.
They weren't done embarrassing themselves yet. An own goal by player of the year Gareth McAuley made it 3-0. Johnny Howson then added a touch of class to the proceedings in injury time with a brilliant curler from 25 yards. Norwich were safe. West Brom were completely fine with that. Everyone went home happy. Hurray!
