Juventus sporting director Beppe Marotta has been quoted by Sky Sports as declaring an interest in Manchester City's striker Carlos Tévez. The Argentine striker played all but four of City's league games this season, though his departure this summer has seemed inevitable for quite a while.

Juventus’ sporting director Beppe Marotta has hinted that Manchester City’s Carlos Tévez could be the solution to their problem in attack.

Juventus have made no secret of the fact they're on the hunt for a striker, and it's little surprise. Despite winning the scudetto two years running, Juventus' weakest position is quite clearly in attack. This season only one of their strikers has scored in double figures, with Mirko Vučinić's ten goals making him joint-top scorer alongside midfielder Arturo Vidal. Fabio Quagliarella, Alessandro Matri and Sebastian Giovinco have chipped in with nine, eight and seven goals each, with none of these players good enough to take the bianconeri to the next step.
That Juve have resorted to signings such as Nicolas Bentdner and Nicolas Anelka (neither have scored any goals in the league this season) is a pretty damning indictment of their strike force. However, they've already gone some way to injecting some much-needed talent into their attack, with Fernando Llorente set to arrive from Athletic Club on a free transfer in the summer.
That's clearly not enough to satisfy coach Antonio Conte and Marotta, with Tévez now linked alongside Real Madrid's Gonzalo Higuaín."I have to say that Higuain is a bit younger and has a higher market value," Marotta said, adding "Tevez on the other hand has a year left on his contract so maybe between the two, the Tevez deal is easier."
At 25, Higuain is four years Tévez’s junior, giving him the upper hand. There remains the possibility that the supposed Tévez interest is solely being used to try to get Real Madrid to slash their demands. Whatever the situation, both are top class strikers, and would represent great captures for a team lacking in attack.
