Mourinho signed with Real Madrid in the summer of 2010 after leaving Inter Milan. The Special One came to Madrid with high expectations as he was viewed as the man to overturn Barcelona's league dominance and bring Los Merengues their 10th European cup. Instead, Mourinho managed only one league title, one Copa del Rey and one Supercopa de España, despite spending copious amounts of money to assemble a talented roster.

Things have been extremely tumultuous this season at the Santiago Bernabéu as Madrid all but conceded the league to Barcelona by January. They were knocked out of the Champions League in the semifinals for the third straight year -- this time by Borussia Dortmund -- and failed to claim the Copa del Rey last week, losing to rivals Atletico Madrid for the first time since 1999. Mourinho was sent off late in full time during the loss to Atleti.

Rumors of Mourinho’s exit have been swirling for months with speculation that he’ll make a return to Chelsea picking up momentum recently.

Despite amassing a 122-22-37 record over three seasons, Mourinho’s time at Madrid will likely be viewed largely as a failure as he failed to halt Barca’s league dominance or reach a Champions League final. Mourinho’s time at Madrid may be best remembered for his first Clasico match, in which Madrid were embarrassed 5-0 at the Camp Nou, prompting team president Pérez to label it the worst game in the history of Real Madrid.
