Mats Hummels picked up a sprained ankle in Borussia Dortmund’s final Bundesliga match of the season against Hoffenheim, though according to team doctor Markus Braun “it’s absolutely realistic that he will recover in time for the Champions League final against Bayern Munich in London on Saturday.”

According to Borussia Dortmund’s team doctor, there’s a good chance that Mats Hummels will be available for the Champions League final.

The initial fear that Hummels would be definitely out were disproven after a scan, which revealed he’d stretched the ligaments in his ankle rather than torn them. If Hummels was declared unfit to play, then it’s likely that Felipe Santana would come in at centre-back alongside Neven Subotić, though it now seems he will be available.
With only goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller, Marcel Schmelzer and Robert Lewandowski having made more starts in the league than Hummels this season, his absence would be a big blow for Jürgen Klopp and his team -- not least with them already facing the possibility of missing one of their star players in Mario Götze.
