Mario Götze injury: Dortmund star trains, but leaves early

Dortmund midfielder Mario Götze participated in training today but was forced to leave after an hour with apparent discomfort in his injured hamstring.

Borussia Dortmund star Mario Götze’s status for Saturday’s UEFA Champions League final against Bayern Munich remains in doubt after reports came out today saying the midfielder left training early.

Götze did some individual jogging in the morning and trained an hour with his teammates later in the day but walked off the pitch after an hour, “shaking is head” according to a Sky Sports reporter at training. Götze was reportedly examined by the team doctor and German website Kicker reports that he’ll undergo an MRI on Wednesday to determine if Götze’s struggles were just a reaction to training or a worsening of the injury.

Götze injured his hamstring back on April 30th against Real Madrid and hasn’t played since leaving that match early in the first half. There’s likely ot be plenty of speculation in the coming days about his availability and Dortmund are likely to try and keep as much information out of the news as possible, thought that will likely be a hopeless cause.
