Rafael Benítez expected to replace Walter Mazzarri at Napoli

With Walter Mazzarri looking set to take over at Inter Milan, Napoli have reportedly appointed Rafael Benítez as their new coach.

Napoli president Aurelio Di Laurentiis has announced to Sky Sport that Chelsea interim manager Rafael Benítez will take the partenopei reigns from the departing Walter Mazzarri. "He will be the Napoli coach for the next two seasons," said the president.

Mazzarri announced he'd be leaving Napoli last week, and looks set to take over from Andrea Stramaccioni at Inter Milan. Di Laurentiis confirmed that he'd spoken to a host of coaches, including Laurent Blanc, Didier Deschamps, Roberto Di Matteo, Jürgen Klopp and Manuel Pellegrini, though Benítez is his chosen one.

It's an interesting appointment, with Benítez's tactics-first approach very different to that of Mazzarri. He had been at Napoli since 2009 and provided some of the best football Italy has seen in recent years, while Benítez's only spell in Italy to date was a disastrous few months at Inter. With rumours linking striker Edinson Cavani away too, the Spaniard's appointment heralds a new era at the San Paolo.
