MLS 2013, Week 13 preview and fixtures: What’s a Champions League?

Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are good, which is why the winner will be promoted to MLS.

Jared Wickerham

Yeah, but could Bastian Schweinsteiger do it on a hot Saturday in Dallas?

D.C. United vs. Portland Timbers

Saturday, 7 p.m. ET - Univision Deportes

At what point does Ashton Kutcher jump out of the bushes at RFK Stadium?

Pick: Portland, 2-1.

Montreal Impact vs. Philadelphia Union

Saturday, 7 p.m. ET - MLS Live

If Jack McInerney threw a tantrum, would anyone blame him? The kid needs help.

Pick: Montreal, 2-0.

New England Revolution vs. Toronto FC

Saturday, 7:30 p.m. ET - MLS Live

Why?

Pick: Gross.

FC Dallas vs. San Jose Earthquakes

Saturday, 8:30 p.m. ET - MLS Live

It took a few months for people to believe in San Jose last year. Have you learned our lesson? If you believe in Dallas, yes you have.

Pick: Dallas, 2-0.

Real Salt Lake vs. Chicago Fire

Saturday, 9 p.m. ET - MLS Live

Adding Mike Magee and Bakary Soumare will make the Fire significantly better, but they need to be super duper significantly better.

Pick: Salt Lake, 1-0.

Colorado Rapids vs. Chivas USA

Saturday, 9 p.m. ET - MLS Live

It’s tough to outshine Chelis. Deshorn Brown will.

Pick: Colorado, 3-1.

Sporting Kansas City vs. Houston Dynamo

Sunday, 3:30 p.m. ET - NBC Sports Network

Sporting finally got the gigantic Dynamo monkey off their backs last time these teams met. Dominic Kinnear doesn;t care.

Pick: Draw, 1-1.

New York Red Bulls vs. Columbus Crew

Sunday, 5 p.m. ET - UniMas

The Red Bulls are trophy-less because they haven’t gotten a shot at the Champions League. Bayern Munich wouldn’t stand a chance.

Pick: New York, 5,930-2.

LA Galaxy vs. Seattle Sounders

Sunday, 11 p.m. ET - ESPN2

Robbie Rogers will play, if not this week then next week or the week after, and it will certainly be a milestone in professional sports. But the Galaxy took a chance on a player, not a symbol, and when all the deserved plaudits fade away, Rogers will have to produce.

It wasn’t too long ago that the same was said of Seattle -- they have to produce. Finally, they are, and you would be hard-pressed to find a team playing any better right now.

Pick: Draw, 2-2.
