For some reason, known only to the withering brain-trust at the Everton Football Club, this year was a good time to replace the classic and inspired club crest with something new. According to Everton, they thought long and hard about the change, consulted with fans, season ticket holders and various other enlightened luminaries on the creation of the new crest that would lead Everton into the future as the symbol of the proud club.
Everton debuts their new crest and it’s just plain awful
Everton unveiled their new crest today and as an Everton fan I’m beyond insulted by this ugly creation ... and I’m not alone.

Today they released the fruit of their labors and gave us this:
HOLY *#&@!^!*$(#&! THAT IS SO #&@!^!*!@$ UGLY!!!
DID YOU USE MS PAINT?!?!
As an Everton fan I’m flabbergasted. I’m stunned stupid by this abomination, this “Comic sans of crests” -- thanks to @ComingHomeNUFC for that -- it’s a joke right? IT HAS TO BE A JOKE?! ... RIGHT?!!
Sadly, it’s not. This is the new crest for Everton. As you might imagine, fans are none too pleased. Here’s a sampling of the reactions on Twitter today.
#EFC has no respect for its fans, the confirmation of the new badge confirms that. Moyes has taken the People's Club tag with him.

New Everton crest revealed. Horrible, cheap and an insult to the nil satis motto which has been shamefully removed. twitter.com/davidvitty/sta…

Fans were consulted they say. Lies lies and more lies. Were any of you asked? Small time mentality from a small time board. Just go

What supporters did you honestly consult with? @everton#EvertoniansAgainstTheNewBadge

The removal of #NilSatisNisiOptimum AND 'Winners Laurels' shows the true ambitions the Custodians of Our Great Club have! @everton History?

There are many more, just do some Twitter searches and you’ll find a stream of negativity, anger, concern and exasperation.
There’s an interesting point to be made concerning the consulting of fans about the new crest. I follow a decent amount of Everton fans and season ticket holders. Over the past months when this badge began to leak, there was a consistent negative reaction to it. Fan after fan spoke out against the crest, expressing their displeasure about how it looked and yet here we are with this comical badge now the forward facing emblem for the club.
Were you really listening, Everton? Do you even get a damn about your fans and what they think? Has the heavy and consistent opposition to the years of blunders and missteps by Bill Kenwright and the board soured you to the opinions of the people that buy tickets, buy merchandise and support the club?
Whatever the case, this badge in a way is perfect for Everton and a glorious symbol of the tenure of Bill Kenwright. Sloppy, ugly, ill-advised, disastrous ... need I continue?
Please, if you feel strongly about this crest, take to Twitter or Facebook and let Everton know what you think. They need to hear us because this crest is unacceptable.
