Real Betis' leading scorer Ruben Castro has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting a former girlfriend.
Ruben Castro arrested, accused of assaulting a former girlfriend
The Real Betis striker was arrested after training on Monday and is facing accusations from a former girlfriend that he slapped and punched her.

The Europa Press reported that the alleged victim reported the assault around 3 p.m. local time on Monday, stating that Castro hit her with several punches and slaps. Castro was arrested by the National Police after Betis’ training session on Monday, apparently in a deal worked out between the club and authorities to avoid Castro being arrested in front of fans.
Castro's case has been given to the Courts of Violence on Women in Sevilla as it would be considered a domestic violence case.
The 31-year-old striker has 18 goals this season and his status for the club’s final match on Sunday is up in the air at the moment.
