Liverpool complete signing of Iago Aspas

Liverpool have completed the signing of Iago Aspas from Celta Vigo, it has been confirmed.

Liverpool have completed the signing of Celta Vigo forward Iago Aspas for a fee reported to be around €9m.

Aspas had been wanted by a host of Premier League clubs in January, but Celta refused to sell the player for less than his €10m release clause, although their impending relegation from La Liga will see their position weakened. It was reported that Reading were the only club to officially make a bid during that time, and Liverpool have taken advantage of the situation to make their move.

Aspas signs for the Reds on a deal reported to be around £45,000 per week in what is the first business of the transfer window for Liverpool in what is expected to be a very busy summer for English clubs.

A versatile forward who can play across the frontline, Aspas scored eleven goals this season for Celta, and should add some welcome reinforcement to Liverpool's frontline.
