Hannover and Mainz can likely kiss their Europa League dreams goodbye after a 2-2 draw leaves both sides on the outside.
Hannover 96 vs. Mainz: Final score 2-2, A draw that neither will like
Hannover and Mainz played to a 2-2 draw on Saturday. A result that neither side will like too much.

Mainz jumped out to the 1-0 lead in the 25th minute. Nikolai Müller intercepted a pass from Jan Schlaudraff, megged Karim Haggui, and calmly beat Ron-Robert Zieler for a great goal. Schlaudraff made up for his error ten minutes later with an excellent cross that Artur Sobiech headed in with power to make it 1-1.
The visitors thought they went in front again before halftime, but Müller was shown a yellow card for deliberately knocking the ball in with his hand
Hannover went a man down in the 65th minute when Christian Schulz was shown his second yellow card of the match. They kept attacking, however, and Mame Biram Diouf gave them the 2-1 lead in the 70th minute.
The lead was short lived. Müller scored on a pass by Shawn Miller less than ten minutes later to earn a hard fought 2-2 draw.
Hannover are in ninth place with 42 points and could find themselves six points out of the Europa League race if Freiburg manage a win tomorrow. Mainz could find themselves seven points back and out of the race by the end of Sunday.
