Condemned Reading had some fun at Craven Cottage as they put four past Fulham, while Swansea and Manchester City had a competition to see who could pull off the worst miss, which was won by Edin Dzeko after a superb late effort.
Reading might already be down, but perhaps the relief did them some good as they produced a fine performance to put four past Fulham at Craven Cottage. John Arne Riise gave away a penalty early in the first half for Hal Robson-Kanu to convert, but the other five goals would not come until after the break.
Robson-Kanu doubled his tally with a fine curled finish, before Bryan Ruiz attempted a comeback after some good interplay with Hugo Rodallega, clawing a goal back for the hosts. Reading soon restored their two goal lead, however, Adam Le Fondre escaping the offside trap and rounding the keeper to make it 3-1. Ruiz soon scored yet again, heading in from close range to put his side back in with a shout, but Jem Karacan made sure of the futile win with a late goal to seal the victory.
Swansea 0-0 Manchester City
A rather drab affair between two teams who have little to play for, although the game was not entirely without action. Michu and Pablo Hernandez both had fine chances to open the scoring in the first half but wasted them, while Manchester City also got away with two strong penalty shouts on Matija Nastasic, one for a handball and one for a high challenge. There was some comic relief to conclude the game, however, with Edin Dzeko somehow fluffing a chance from a few yards out with an open goal to aim at, providing probably the most entertainment for both sets of fans.
