American international striker Juan Agudelo has been traded from Chivas USA to the New England Revolution, according to the player's agent, Ron Waxman. Who or what else is included in the deal are yet to be disclosed.

Agudelo has scored two goals in six appearances this season for Chivas. The 20-year-old was frozen out by the New York Red Bulls, the team he made his debut with as a teenager, in 2012 before he was traded to Chivas. Agudelo scored six goals in his first full MLS season, but has scored just five goals in his last 30 league games. He's gotten his career back on track recently, but with Chivas looking to change the identity of their team to for their name and the Mexican-American fanbase they're targeting, they were always going to be open to trade offers for the striker.
While Agudelo hasn’t quite rediscovered the form that led to him being capped 17 times by the U.S., he’s certainly headed in the right direction. The Revs are also in desperate need of scoring, and it makes sense for them to take a punt on a talented striker who was probably undervalued in the trade market.
Designated player Jerry Bengston has been a disappointment for New England, and the Revs have just four goals in eight games this season, tied for worst in the league. Their defense has them in 7th place in the East, however, and with Saer Sene working his way back from injury as well as the addition of Agudelo, they could have a chance to snatch the fifth and final playoff spot when it’s all said and done this season. Agudelo has also played a bit on the wing for Chivas, and could reprise that role in the event Bengston ever starts hitting the back of the net.
