FC Schalke 04 have continued their summer of great moves by extending by the contract of Sead Kolasinac through the summer of 2017. His previous deal was set to expire at the end of June 2015.

Kolasinac, 20, made his debut for Schalke’s first team this year. After making 16 Bundesliga appearances, 3 in the Champions League and 1 in the Pokal, it’s likely that Kolasinac has surpassed Christian Fuchs on the club’s depth chart for the starting left back position to begin the 2013-2014 season.

Sporting director Horst Heldt is please with Kolasinac’s development:

“Sead played a great season in his first real year in the Bundesliga. He improved month on month and even established himself as a first-team regular in the second half of the season. He managed that because he’s an ambitious player and has a great mentality which we desperately need here at Schalke.”

This has been quite the summer so far for Schalke. After extending Julian Draxler through 2018, Schalke have moved forward with signing Felipe Santana and Christian Clemens. They’re also reportedly close to finalizing the transfers of Adam Szalai and Leon Goretzka. The only thing that remains to be seen is if Jens Keller can get this squad challenging for trophies.
