Marko Marin joins Sevilla on loan from Chelsea

After struggling for first team action at Chelsea, attacking midfielder Marko Marin has joined Sevilla on loan.

Sevilla have announced that Chelsea midfielder Marko Marin will join them on loan next season, subject to him passing a medical. The 24-year-old German international arrived at Stamford Bridge from Werder Bremen last year, though struggled to break into the Chelsea first team and made only two Premier League starts in total.

Marin has already made 16 appearances for Germany, though clearly isn’t in José Mourinho’s plans for the upcoming season. It makes sense that he’s leaving to find himself regular football again, joining a Sevilla side which finished ninth in La Liga last season.

Capable of playing both as a winger and a central playmaker, Marin offers a great versatility across the attacking midfield trio in Sevilla manager Unai Emery's 4-2-3-1. He could feasibly fill the gap left by winger Jesús Navas -- who has recently departed to Manchester City -- while rumours have suggested that central attacking midfielder Ivan Rakitić could leave the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán too.

Either way, the talented Marin looks to be a useful signing for Los Rojiblancos, and the regular football will hopefully enable him to reestablish himself in the German international setup. He hasn’t picked up a cap since 2010.
